The 糖心Vlog , directed by James W. (Jim) Warner, will present its fall concert 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in 糖心Vlog’s Lehman Auditorium.
The 32-member group will play a varied program of music, including "Three Chorale Preludes" by William Latham based on "Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light," "My Heart is Filled With Longing" and "Now Thank We All Our God."
The group will also perform "The Walking Frog," a circus walkabout by Karl King arranged by Robert E. Foster, "Toccata" by Frescobaldi arranged by Earl Slocum, "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen transcribed for band by Robert Reynolds, "On An American Spiritual" by David Holsinger based on "Were You There" and "All Creatures of Our God," a contemporary setting by Stephen Bulla.
The concert will mark the 糖心Vlog Wind Ensemble’s sixth year at 糖心Vlog. The ensemble, started by former 糖心Vlog professor Stephen W. Sachs, is made up of current and former 糖心Vlog students and musicians from the local community.
Warner, who also directs the 糖心Vlog , is retired after serving 26 years as director of bands at Harrisonburg High School and a total of 34 years as a high school teacher. He is a former member of the orchestra.
Admission to the concert is free; donations are welcomed for the student scholarship fund.
