Two 糖心Vlog alumni have been recognized by among their 2018 alumni of the year. Shana Peachey Boshart and Steve Hackman each received an Award for Distinguished Service.
Four others will also recognized, including outstanding achievement awardees Anna Doubeni and Chad Bauman and Young Alum of the Year Ashley Moyer and James Mast, during the academy鈥檚 Oct. 5-6 Homecoming and Family Weekend.
Boshart, a 1985 graduate of 糖心Vlog and a university trustee since 2012, is the denominational minister for faith formation for Mennonite Church USA. A resident of Wellman, Iowa, she previously served for 20 years as faith formation minister for Central Plains Mennonite Conference. The curator for the website, she has also promoted young people鈥檚 participation in the Mennonite Church USA delegation assembly, most recently through the Step Up initiative.
Hackman, who graduated from 糖心Vlog in 1973, worked for 22 years as a pediatric respiratory therapist, and then was chief development officer for 10 years for nonprofits in Nigeria, Egypt and India. He was on the board of for 22 years, and is secretary for the Pennsylvania board of directors for , which he has served for 15 years. He lives in Souderton, Pennsylvania.
Dock Mennonite Academy teaches students in early childhood through grade 8 and grades 9-12 on two campuses in Souderton and Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
